"It's dark. It's about grief. It's weird, I'd always wanted it to be, and I still think it is, a democratic comedy. The audience can decide what bits to laugh at and what bits they're not going to laugh at.” - Peter Mullan

Orphans will be released on DVD and Blu-ray from 31 October 2011. The directorial debut of renowned Scottish actor and director Peter Mullan (The Magdalene Sisters, Neds), Orphans tells the story of four siblings, who gather for their mother's funeral in Glasgow and face individual torments over a single night. This grittily realistic and deeply moving black comedy/drama brings together the finest of Scottish talent, including Douglas Henshall, Gary Lewis, Stephen McCole and Rosemarie Stevenson.

The winner of four awards at Venice Film Festival in 1998 (Cult Network Italia Prize, Isvema Award, Kodak Award, Prix Pierrot - Peter Mullan), the film wowed audiences all over the world on its original release.

The DVD features the film in a new digital transfer and the Blu-ray features the title in a new HD restoration. Both editions feature a selection of early Peter Mullan short films: Fridge (1995), Close (1993) and Good Day for the Bad Guys (1995) and an exclusive booklet containing an interview with Peter Mullan by film critic Paul Greenwood.

Orphans is stocked by all major retailers throughout the UK from 31 October and will also be available to download from iTunes.
