To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Sidney Lumet's New Hollywood masterpiece Serpico will return to the big screen from 18 August 2023 in a stunning new 4K restoration.
Starring a young Al Pacino in a ferocious and career changing performance, this cop corruption thriller has never looked better and will be supported by 50th anniversary artwork (above), social assets, plus new programme notes from i Paper lead film critic Christina Newland.
Serpico is also available to book as part of a brand new touring season on a cost-effective combo drive: Look Who’s Back: The Hollywood Renaissance & the Blacklist, curated by Andy Willis (Professor of Film Studies at the University of Salford and Senior Visiting Curator at HOME Manchester).
Presented as part of Cinema Rediscovered on Tour in collaboration with Park Circus, the package is supported by new season artwork and also includes Uptight, Midnight Cowboy (4K Restoration), MASH, and Claudine (4K Restoration). Thanks to BFI awarding funds from the National Lottery, participating venues will be able to access financial support for local curation/events, social media/marketing and PR spend, in-person intros and more.
Presented by Park Circus. Restored in 4K, Paramount scanned and cleaned the original camera negative at L’Immagine Ritrovata, Bologna. Colour restored at Colortime LLC. in Los Angeles, using a 1983 Vintage Release print as a colour reference. Newly created 5.1 and restored original mono.
