Cinemoments: Safety Last!

Cinemoments: Safety Last!

Happy Birthday to Harold Lloyd, whose impeccable timing and physical comedy cemented him as a founding-father of film comedy! To celebrate what would have been his 127th birthday, keep an eye on our digital channels all week where we’ll be celebrating Harold’s films and their ability to life spirits in these uncertain times.

First up, we are delighted to share a brand-new Cinemoments clip from Safety Last! - a favourite of our Marketing Assistant, Jack Chase. This iconic sequence is the finale of the 1923 Fred Newmeyer and Sam Taylor directed classic, as Lloyd climbs the "12-story Bolton building". Including one of the most famous stunts in film history, this clip shows ‘The Boy’ climbing the department store in which he works as part of an elaborate publicity stunt to maintain the pretence to his visiting girlfriend that he has made a success of moving to the big city.

Later this week, we look forward to sharing a special Guest Picks interview with Harold’s granddaughter, Suzanne Lloyd – who curates a personal collection of her grandfather’s films to lift spirits in these uncertain times. There will also be other activity across our channels this week celebrating Harold Lloyd's films.
