Spotlight On... Some Like It Hot

Spotlight On... Some Like It Hot

My Park Circus' aim is to allow a range of people within the film industry and from around the world to talk about their favourite classic movies - films that are significant to them and that have influenced their career.

Our first My Park Circus article saw Screen International journalist Allan Hunter discuss The Night of the Hunter. Next up is Lars Moeller (pictured, below), a key figure from Denmark's largest cinema chain, Nordisk Film Biografer.

Lars Moeller: S.

PC: What is your earliest memory of seeing it?

LM: I was only a small boy at home and watched it on a Sunday afternoon together with my father around 1973.

PC: Why does the film mean so much to you?

The Persuaders! were a tremendous success in Denmark in those years.

Later on my all time favorite director turned out to be Billy Wilder. Jack Lemmon is a favorite as well.

Some Like It Hot is so well composed; it is a real masterpiece. In 2001 we showed Some Like It Hot at Scandinavia's largest cinema, The Imperial for a whole week. It screened on 1 June the date when Marilyn Monroe would have been 75 years old. It was a huge success with 5000 guests turning up! It was highly rated by our local press in Denmark and remains a fond memory from my time in cinema.

Nordisk Film Biografer, which is part of one of the oldest film companies in the world. Nordisk Film was founded in 1906.

Lars oversees 18 cinemas around the country, including the largest in Scandinavia, The Imperial in Copenhagen.
