Really a ‘fringe’ Siegel film as he worked on it for two weeks only, and it was for this film that the Directors Guild created the pseudonym ‘Allen Smithee’ for pictures where the director no longer wished to take a credit. A tough law and order marshal tames a frontier town but is then an embarrassment to the community.
