Symphony In Black - A Rhapsody of Negro Life

Duke Ellington specialized in lengthy jazz compositions along symphonic lines, and this one he composed specially for this film. Each movement of the symphony is a skillful blending of Ellington's music and mesmerizing visual imagery. There is also a brief vocal by a 19-year-old newcomer, who was to become jazz legend, Billie Holiday.
