Gypsy Girl (AKA Sky West and Crooked)

Directed by John Mills and starring his daughter, Hayley, this is the story of a young girl, Brydie. She lives in a small village where tensions are mounting after the death of a local inhabitant - a mole! Trouble really began seven years earlier when she and her childhood friend, Julian, were playing in a meadow. Julian, finding his father's shotgun, was chasing her across the field when he tripped, the gun fired, and he was killed. Since then, his family have hated Brydie and all her relatives. Now 17, Brydie is mentally retarded having also been hurt in the accident and has no recollection of the event. Julian's father, however, has revenge on his mind. As she becomes outcast by nearly the entire village, she befriends a gypsy named Roibin.
