Forbidden

In this fast-paced potboiler, Barbara Stanwyck stars as a staid librarian who falls in love with district attorney Adolph Manjou. The two have an affair though Menjou is married. Stanwyck has a daughter and the child is adopted by Menjou, while Stanwyck gets a job working for Ralph Bellamy. Meanwhile, Menjou works his way up the political ladder to governor and Stanwyck marries Bellamy, who soon learns of her past.
